Jared grew up during the dawning days of Shank Building and Design. On days off from school and during the summer, he and his brothers loved helping their dad (Larry) on the job. Over the years as he honed his skills, he developed a love for craftsmanship and a deep respect for the worth of work. He brought that passion with him to UNC Chapel Hill, often fixing sinks in crowded bachelor pads or helping his friends with handyman projects.
After graduating and testing the waters of the psychology field, Jared decided it was time to return to his roots and dive into the hands-on work of the family business. What began as a day job to pay off school loans quickly became an exciting apprenticeship, and since 2014 Jared has grown into his role as project manager, lead carpenter, and Larry’s right-hand man.
Ever the creative type, Jared is quick to provide resourceful advice for problem solving or a flair of artisanship to the finished project. He’s also a people person, working diligently to make sure that your experience, and that of everyone in your home, is as comfortable, safe, educational, and enjoyable as possible.
